Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen

The other day I had a call with a friend who went to study in the US. She told me excitedly“Everything here is tagged Made in China. But I sensed some disappointment in her voice. I haven’t found any Chinese brand so far. It seems that China only produces other people’s stuff. Her words were thought provoking. China as the world’s factory performs only the manufacturing segment for foreign brands.

“Made in China” has even become a symbol of cheap products. It’s been said that China has to export 800 million shirts to get an airplane. What we are missing is sustainable competence that comes from trademarks patents and designs. China can only gain a cutting edge in the global arena of our enterprises move up the value chain and create products of their own. This transformation will be no less like a marathon. Luckily some Chinese enterprises are already in business or the long run. They point the way for other enterprises with three strategies:

brand identity innovation of technology and modern management systems. The first strategy was to establish brand identity which is a company’s personality.The LenovoGroup the third largest PC maker in the world was originally known as the Legend Group. When it entered the global market it found the name Legend was too ordinary and frequently used. The company knew how important it was to establish a brand that would make it stand out. Thus it changed its name into Lenovo taking what means new in Latin-novo.

Now this unique brand is widely recognized around the globe. What follows is the innovation of technology. It can free Chinese enterprises from their dependency on foreign technology and increase added value of their products. Haier the third largest largest household appliances maker in the world owes its success to constant innovation.

Over the last 16 years Haier has invested over 7 billion RMB in technological development. Up till now Haier still meets its goal by creation over one new product a day maintaining its upper-hand in the global competition.

The fundamental strategy is to establish mechanisms that ensure a smooth transition.

Nowadays modern management system have produced overwhelming advantage. They can ensure efficient division of labor and vitality in the business cycle. The New Hope Group an originally family-owned business found itself trapped by the limitation and inefficiency of being run by family members together. After the enterprise turned itself into a limited liability company that distributed shares efficiently its business started to flourish and became the national leading enterprise for agriculture.

China’s growth will not stop merely at manufacturing. With brand identity innovation of technology and modern management systems Chinese enterprises will stand strong in the global competition. I believe that one day my friend in the US together with all the Chinese people around the world will proudly find abundant products tagged “Created in China” in the global market.

Hello everybody!

This morning I would like to argue for true ecological tourism or ecotourism. To me a true ecotour is a tour that allows us to express our passion for nature and for our cultural heritage.

I love traveling. One of my most memorable trips was climbing the Great Wall. There I cherished seeing people of all races and ages gathered on this ancient edifice. I cherished seeing these people smiling at each other making way for each other and reminding each other to watch their steps.

While I love traveling I'm also sad to see the damage tourism has done to nature and to our historical relics. Many tour agencies like to label their business.

This is not ecotourism at all. True ecotourism involves responsibility. While we enjoy the beauty of nature we should also help protect it. Here let me share an experience.

Once I joined others as young volunteers in an outing. The excursion took us to the peak of a mountain where we got a beautiful view of the city. We were however not ordinary tourists. As we were climbing we were also picking up the trash left on the ground by other climbers. Finally we carried in large bags all the trash down the mountain.

The excursion was exhausting but I believe after this experience not a single one of us will ever litter any tourist spot. Moreover when we were cleaning up the mountain slope we caught eyes of many others. Some of them might see us as foolish but more of them I believe will take note of the need to protect the environment.

My experience was one of an ecotourist. We took but we also gave.

However on the idea of ecotourism there are many misunderstandings. I once telephoned several travel agencies to inquire about ecotours. And here is how it went:

Like other students I have had many dreams of what I would like to do after graduation. One of these dreams is to run a travel agency. In this travel agency I would do three things:

First I would like to have a staff of people who love nature as they love their mothers and can pass on to the customers the same kind of love.

Second I would like to let the customers appreciate the beauty of nature in those natural reservations safari parks and wild forests and show them how they can contribute in return for the air water and nourishment that nature provides.

Last but not least I'd encourage the customers to work as volunteers as I once did. They would live close to nature by cleaning up the natural resorts and planting trees as mementos of their visit.

I still remember when I was standing on the top of the Great Wall I could see in some distance many bare mountains with no trees nothing green. It is my dream that one day I would organize tours for areas that are suffering from erosion and deforestation and we would plant trees there. Ecotourism should be an experience of learning and offering-it should not be just seeing the famous sites and posing for photos. On the flag of my agency I would like to print this motto:

Take nothing away except memory; leave nothing behind except your trees.

Hello everyone!

If I were a boy again I would practice perseverance more often and never give up a thing because it was or inconvenient.

If we want light we must conquer darkness. Perseverance can sometimes equal genius in its results. “There are only two creatures”syas a proverb “who can surmount the pyramids-the eagle and the snail.”

If I were a boy again I would school myself into a habit of attention;I would let nothing come between me and thesubject in hand.I would remember that a good skater never tries to skate in two directions at once.The habit of attention becomes part of our lifeif we begain early enough.I often hear grown up people say “I could not fix my attention on the sermon or bookalthough I wished to do so” and the reason is the habit was not formed in youth.

If I were to live my life over againI would pay more attention to the cultivation of the memory.I would strengthen that faculty by every possible means and on every possible occasion. It takes a little hard work at first to remember things accurately; but memory soon helps itself and gives very little trouble.It only needs early cultivation to become a power.

If I were a boy again I would cultivate courage.“Nothing is so mild and gentle as courage nothing so cruel and pitiless as cowardice”syas a wise author.We too often borrow trouble and anticipate that may never appear.”The fear of ill exceeds the ill we fear.”Dangers will arise in any career but presence of mind will often conquer the worst of them.Be prepared for any fate and there is no harm to be freared.

If I were a boy again I would look on the cheerful side.Life is very much like a mirror: if you smile upon itI smiles back upon you; but if you frown and look doubtful on it you will get a similar look in return. Inner sunshine warms not only the heart of the owner but of all that come in contact with it. “ who shuts love out in turn shall be shut out from love.”

If I were a boy again I would school myself to say no more often.I might write pages on the importance of learning very early in life to gain that point where a young boy can stand erect and decline doing an unworthy act because it is unworthy.

If I were a boy againI would demand of myself more courtesy towards my companions and friendsand indeed towards strangers as well.The smallest courtesies along the rough roads of life are like the little birds that sing to us all winter long and make that season of ice and snow more endurable.

Finallyinstead of trying hard to be happyas if that were the sole purpose of lifeI would if I were a boy againI would still try harder to make others happy.
